QUICK TEST: Switch Monitor Test 6.0
(Vehicles Built After 11/2/87 Only)


SPECIAL NOTES:

^ The Switch Monitor Test checks input signals from the individual input switches to the ECA.

^ All switches must be tested individually. Leaving a switch on while testing another will lead to false test results.

^ If all switches are OK, go to PINPOINT TEST STEP Q1.

^ Turn engine off, wait 10 seconds before starting Switch Monitor Test:


Deactivate Self-Test.

All accessories off.

Transmission in NEUTRAL.

USING THE STAR TESTER

1. Connect STAR Tester with adapter cable to the proper self-test connectors.

2. Key ON, latch center button.

3. Watch the output of the LED on the adapter cable as each switch is exercised.

4. Record all results of test.

USING ANALOG VOM

1. Ground the STI connector.

2. Connect VOM between BK/Y ( + ) and BK/BL ( - ) terminals on 6-pin self-test output connector.

3. Key ON.

4. Watch the output of the analog VOM as each switch is exercised.

5. Record all results of test.

[DON'T] (UNLESS DIRECTED)

^ Depress the throttle.

^ Depress the clutch.

^ Engage the transmission.
