Thermostat: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect cooling fan electrical connector from thermostat housing.
2. Drain cooling system, then disconnect upper radiator hose at thermostat housing.
3. Remove thermostat housing attaching bolts, then the housing.
4. Remove thermostat and gasket.
5. Install thermostat into cylinder head, valve end first. Ensure jiggle valve is at top.
6. Install new gasket coated with suitable sealer. Painted side of gasket must face thermostat.
7. Install housing and attaching bolts. Torque bolts to 14-22 ft. lbs.
8. Connect upper hose, then fill cooling system.
