PROGRAM TIMING - 6 YEARS/60,000 MILES, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST, FROM ORIGINAL
WARRANTY START DATE OR THROUGH AUGUST 31, 1994, WHICHEVER PROVIDES GREATER COVERAGE.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
All 1988 and 1989 model year All Wheel Drive (AWD) Tempo and Topaz cars equipped with 2.3L engines.

REASONS FOR THIS PROGRAM
The fuel pump in some of these cars may become abnormally noisy or may not operate properly. A noisy or improperly operating fuel pump could be caused by a seal in the fuel pump wearing prematurely. This condition could cause reduced fuel pressure, which may result in hard starting, loss of engine power, or stalling during hot weather.

SERVICE ACTION
Owners of affected cars will be notified that a no-charge service program is available if their cars should experience the symptoms described above. This service will be available for 6 years/60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from original warranty start date, or through August 31, 1994, whichever provides greater coverage.

REFUNDS
Only for owner-paid repairs made before date of Owner Letter.
