ISSUE: The "Check Engine" warning light has been renamed to "Service Engine Soon" warning light as a running change for the 1989 model year. The warning light is located in the instrument cluster and indicates a possible malfunction in the electronic engine control system.

ACTION: No corrective action is required. The two names are interchangeable when using the 1989 Engine/Emissions Diagnosis Manual, Volume H. The 1990 Owner Guide will reflect the interchangeability of the two terms.
