Converter Clutch Test

CONVERTER CLUTCH TEST
1. connect suitable tachometer to engine.
2. Allow transaxle to reach normal operating temperature by driving vehicle at highway speeds for approximately 15 minutes in D range.
3. After normal operating temperature is reached, maintain a constant vehicle speed of 50 mph and tap brake pedal with left foot.
4. Engine RPM should increase when brake pedal is tapped and decrease about five seconds after pedal is released. If this does not occur, problem is most likely Electronic Engine Control IV (EEC IV) system related.
