Steering Wheel: Service and Repair
Removal1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove two horn pad cover retaining screws from back of steering wheel.
3. On models equipped with speed control, disconnect speed control electrical connector.
4. On all models, remove steering wheel retaining bolt.
5. Remove steering wheel from column upper shaft by grasping rim of steering wheel and pulling off.
Installation
The multi-function switch lever must be in the neutral position before installing steering wheel or damage to the switch cam may result.
1. Align mark on steering column with mark on shaft to ensure that straight-ahead steering wheel position corresponds with straight-ahead position of the front wheels.
2. Install steering wheel retaining bolt and torque to 23-33 ft. lbs.
3. Install steering wheel horn pad.
4. Connect battery ground cable, then check steering column for proper operation.
