Displaying and Reading Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTE: Ford DOES NOT provide a procedure to retrieve or clear trouble codes. Code retrieval is integrated into the EATC Module Self-Test. Ford DOES NOT provide an alternate procedure for performing the Self-Test with an NGS or generic tester.

The control assembly (head) detects malfunctions occurring during the system self-test. The self-test may be initiated by pressing the Off and Floor buttons simultaneously, then pressing the Auto button within two seconds. Activation of the self-test will stop normal operation of the system. The display may remain blank for up to 20 seconds before showing any stored error codes(s). Available error codes and their remedies are as follows:
1. Code 01 (Control Head Malfunction) - Replace control head.
2. Code 02 (Blend Door Malfunction) - Refer to blend door actuator diagnosis under ``System Functional Test.''
3. Code 03 (In-Vehicle Temperature Sensor Open or Short) - Replace in-vehicle temperature sensor.
4. Code 04 (Ambient Temperature Sensor Open or Short) - Replace ambient temperature sensor.
5. Code 05 (Sunload Sensor Short) - Replace sunload sensor.
6. Code 888 (Testing Complete, No Test Failure) - Refer to ``System Functional Test.
