AIR CONDITIONING - "FS 6" COMPRESSOR USED IN PLACE OF "FX 15" COMPRESSOR

ISSUE: The FS-6 air conditioning compressor is currently being used at the time of vehicle assembly in place of the FX-15 air conditioning compressor on certain model applications. The affected passenger cars are 1989 Taurus/Sable models with 3.0L engines built at the Chicago assembly plant from 11/22/88 to 4/07/89. The affected light trucks are all 1989 Econolines built after 1/05/89 except those equipped with diesel engines.

ACTION: When servicing the affected vehicles, use the FS-6 air conditioning compressor and other related FS-6 service parts. Refer to the 1988 Taurus/Sable Shop Manual, Section 36-37 or 1988 Light Truck Shop Manual, Volume A, Section 36-65 for service details.
