Electronic Fuel Injection - EFI

Intake Plenum:

1. Ignition is to be OFF.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable and secure it out of the way.
3. Release pressure from fuel system at the fuel pressure relief valve (Schrader) on the fuel rail assembly.
4. Remove spring lock coupling retaining clips from fuel inlet and return fittings.
5. Disconnect push connect fuel supply line.
WARNING: Avoid combustion from fuel spillage.
6. Disconnect wiring harness at the fuel injectors.
7. Disconnect wiring harness at throttle position (TP) sensor, air bypass valve and air charge temperature (ACT) sensor.

Air Cleaner Outlet Tube:

8. Remove engine air cleaner outlet tube between air cleaner and air throttle body by loosening two clamps.

Accelerator Cable:

9. Remove snow shield by removing the retaining nut on top of shield and one bolt on the side.
10. Disconnect vacuum hoses at vacuum fittings on air intake throttle body.
11. Disconnect and remove accelerator and speed control cables, from the throttle lever.
12. Remove transmission TV (throttle valve) linkage from throttle lever (automatic transmission).

Intake Plenum Removal/Installation:

13. Remove six retaining bolts and lift air intake throttle body assembly from lower intake manifold assembly.
14. Remove and discard gasket from lower intake manifold assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. Clean and inspect mounting faces of air intake throttle body assembly and lower intake manifold assembly. Surfaces must be clean and flat.
2. Clean and lightly oil manifold stud threads.
3. Install a new gasket.
4. Using guide pins as locators, install air intake throttle body assembly to lower intake manifold.
5. Install stud bolt and five retaining bolts.
6. Tighten bolts. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS.
7. Push connect fuel supply line (1/2-inch) and fuel return line (3/8-inch) to fuel rail.
8. Reconnect spring lock coupling retaining clips on fuel inlet and return fittings.
9. Connect wiring harness to TP sensor, ACT sensor and air bypass valve.
10. Install accelerator cable and speed control cable to throttle lever.
11. Install vacuum hoses to vacuum fittings.
12. Install transmission throttle valve linkage to throttle lever (automatic transmission).
13. Connect battery ground cable.
14. Use EEC self test to check for proper sensor functions.
15. Install fuel tank cap.
16. Install snow shield and air cleaner outlet tube.
17. Run engine and check idle. Adjust as necessary. See ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES.
