Extension Housing: Service and Repair

1. Raise vehicle, then remove driveshaft. Scribe marks on driveshaft yoke and companion flange, to insure proper positioning of driveshaft during assembly.
2. Support transmission with suitable jack and disconnect speedometer cable. On some models, it will be necessary to disconnect the exhaust system from the exhaust manifolds to perform the following step.
3. Remove engine rear support to crossmember attaching bolts or nuts, then raise transmission slightly and remove rear support from extension housing. On some models, it will be necessary to remove crossmember in order to remove rear support from extension housing.
4. On all models, loosen extension housing bolts and allow transmission fluid to drain, then remove extension housing.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
