Control Module HVAC: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove upper and lower steering column shrouds.
3. Remove instrument panel illumination control and instrument wiper control rheostats.
4. Remove four instrument cluster bezel attaching screws and the bezel.
5. Remove four instrument cluster to panel attaching screws and pull cluster toward steering wheel.
6. Disconnect speedometer cable, harness connector and turbo boost gauge vacuum line from rear of cluster assembly and remove cluster.
7. Remove center console attaching screws and position console to rear.
8. Remove left side cowl trim panel.
9. Pull off combination rotary air conditioning/fan switch and bezel and disconnect glove compartment light and cigar lighter.
10. Remove left side lower dash panel.

11. Remove 8 screws retaining passenger side instrument panel, Fig. 1.
12. Disconnect speaker wires, ash tray lamp, blower switch harness connector and radio connections.
13. Remove passenger side lower instrument panel.
14. Remove two bowden cables at bottom of heater.
15. Pull hoses off vacuum valve and remove three control unit attaching screws.
16. Push the control unit through and pull it downward to remove, then remove bulb and bulb holder.
17. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Set control levers in ``up'' position, attach cables and secure sheathing.
