Expansion Valve: Service and Repair



1. Disconnect both battery cables.
2. Discharge refrigerant from A/C system, following approved safety precautions.
3. Remove engine valve cover as described under ``Evaporator Case''.
4. Remove cowl insulator cover.
5. Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve, then disconnect EGR valve by removing bolt attaching valve to manifold and move valve forward to provide clearance.
6. Remove two nuts retaining two refrigerant line seals on the partition between the engine compartment and evaporator.
7. Remove No. 30 torx bolt retaining the refrigerant lines to the expansion valve.
8. Disconnect compressor to suction and liquid lines at the expansion valve.
9. Remove two screws attaching expansion valve to evaporator, then the expansion valve.
10. Reverse procedure to install, replacing O-rings on expansion valve.
