ISSUE: The viton seals on the center support may have been damaged during assembly due to the design of the center support. Damaged seals can result in no forward engagement, delayed forward engagement or shudder, chatter, and slips in reverse

ACTION: Install a new design center support that will not damage the seals when they are installed. Refer to the Scorpio Shop Manual, Section 17-08 for service details.

NOTE: THE NEW CENTER SUPPORT IS USED IN ALL TRANSMISSIONS BUILT AFTER DATE CODE 8E04 (MAY 4, 1988).
