Fig. 7 Shift Linkage Grommet Removal & Installation:

1. Place a suitable tool, between lever and rod, Fig. 7.
2. Position stop pin against end of rod and force rod out of grommet.
3. Remove grommet from the lever by cutting off the large shoulder with a sharp knife.
4. Adjust the stop to 1/2 and coat the outside of the grommet with lubricant. Place a new grommet on the stop pin and force it into the lever hole.
5. Turn grommet several times to ensure it is properly seated.
6. Squeeze rod into bushing until the stop washer seats against the grommet.
