Oil Pump: Service and Repair

The oil pump is not serviceable and must be replaced as an assembly.

REMOVAL

1. Remove oil pan as previously described.
2. Remove oil pump attaching bolts, then the oil pump and pump driveshaft.

INSTALLATION

1. Fill either inlet or outlet port of pump with clean engine oil, then rotate pump shaft to prime pump.
2. Install pump driveshaft into block with pointed end facing inward.
3. Position oil pump with new gasket onto engine. Torque attaching bolts to specifications.
4. Install oil pan, then operate engine and check for oil leaks.
