Brake Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

It is mandatory that hydraulic pressure be discharged from the system before pressure switch removal. The hydraulic accumulator contains brake fluid under high pressure. Turn ignition to off and pump brake pedal a minimum of 20 times until an increase in pedal force is clearly felt to discharge system pressure.

Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect electrical connector from pressure switch.
3. Use Pressure Switch Socket T85P-20215-B or equivalent, a 1/2-inch to 3/8-inch adapter and a 3/8-inch ratchet, remove pressure switch.
4. Remove and discard O-ring seal from pressure switch.

Installation
1. Install a new O-ring seal onto pressure switch.
2. Install pressure switch. Tighten to 15-19 lb-ft.
3. Connect electrical connector to pressure switch.
4. Connect battery ground cable. Turn ignition to Run and check switch and pump operation.
5. Bleed brake system.
