Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Disconnect negative battery ground cable.

2. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to the Pre-Delivery Manual, Section 50-04.

3. Disconnect starter cable and relay connector from starter solenoid.

4. Remove starter attaching bolts and remove starter.

Installation

1. Position starter motor to engine and finger start all bolts. Beginning with topmost bolt, tighten to 20.3-27.0 N-m (15-20 ft.lbs.).

2. Connect starter cable and relay connector to motor. Tighten starter cable nut to 9.0-13.5 N-m (80-120 in.lbs.).

3. Lower vehicle to floor.

4. Connect negative battery ground cable.
