Rustproofing

To ensure that no damage occurs to passive restraint motor and mechanism, refer to the illustration for recommended locations for drilling the required rustproofing wand access holes. Use one of the following drill bits: R-500 12.7mm (1/2- inch) or equivalent, Rotor Broach with locating pin, RBA-330 (Arbor) or a Unibit VII 12.7mm (1/2-inch) or equivalent size drill bit.

Refer to the following procedures before rustproofing:

- Insert appropriate wand into drilled holes shown in rocker panel and A-pillar and spray shaded areas while withdrawing wand.

- Insert appropriate wand into lower drilled hole in rear pillar with indicator pointing toward outside surface. Spray while slowly withdrawing. keep tip as far as possible from outer surface. Repeat process by rotating wand slightly and making additional passes until the purple shaded area is completely covered. Make final pass with indicator pointing straight down to coat wheelwell seam. Do not direct spray toward passive restraint mechanism.

- Insert appropriate wand into upper drilled hole straight back as far as possible. Spray while withdrawing wand. Repeat as necessary to coat orange shaded area.

WARNING: DO NOT DIRECT SPRAY TOWARDS PASSIVE RESTRAINT MOTOR AND MECHANISM.
