LINCOLN-MERCURY 1988 TRACER

ISSUE: 1988 Tracers built before 01/07/87 with a MTX transmission require the use of Type F automatic transmission fluid (ESW-M2C33-F). Vehicles built after 01/07/87 with a MTX transmission are now using Dexron-II transmission fluid (ESW-M2C138-CJ). Incorrect use or mixing of the two (2) different types of transmission fluids may cause the synchronizer rings to wear and/or result in poor MTX durability.

ACTION: If MTX transmission service is required, use only the specified transmission fluid called for in this article.
