Hub & Rotor Replace
Fig. 1 Front disc brake assembly:
1. Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Using a suitable chisel, unstake, then remove halfshaft nut. While loosening nut, apply brakes to hold hub in position.
3. Remove caliper with brake hose attached, then using wire, suspend caliper from coil spring.
4. Using a suitable tool, disconnect tie rod end from steering knuckle.
5. Remove lower ball joint to steering knuckle bolt, then push lower control arm down and away from steering knuckle.
6. Remove bolts attaching steering knuckle to strut.
7. Using tool No. D80L-630-A, remove rotor and hub from steering knuckle. If bearings are not to be serviced, leave dust shield attached to steering knuckle.
8. Remove bolts attaching rotor to hub, then remove rotor, Fig. 1. Place alignment marks on hub and rotor so they can be installed in the same position.
9. Reverse procedure to install. Torque rotor to hub attaching bolts to 33 to 40 ft. lbs. Torque steering knuckle to strut attaching bolts to 69 to 86 ft. lbs. Torque lower ball joint to steering knuckle bolt to 32 to 40 ft. lbs. When installing halfshaft, use new nut and torque to 116 to 174 ft. lbs., then stake nut using a suitable chisel.
10. After completing installation, cycle brake pedal several times to seat brake pads and to ensure system is function properly.
