Fig. 1 Exploded view of front suspension:

1. Raise and support front vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove rotor and hub as described in ``Front Drive Axle.''
3. Place alignment marks on inside of strut mounting block.
4. Remove steering knuckle to strut attaching bolts, Fig. 1.
5. Remove clip attaching brake hose to strut unit, then slide hose out of bracket.
6. Remove strut mounting bolts at strut tower, then remove strut and coil spring unit from vehicle.
7. Using a suitable spring compressor, compress coil spring.
8. Remove strut nut, then carefully release coil spring compressor.
9. Remove coil spring and upper mounting components.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Torque steering knuckle to strut unit attaching bolts to 69 to 72 ft. lbs.
