LEAKS - ENGINE OIL - OIL PRESSURE SWITCH

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1987-88 TRACER

ISSUE: Engine oil leaking from the oil pressure switch during hot engine operation may be caused by oil leaking past the oil pressure switch diaphragm. The affected units are 1988 Festivas, 1987-88 Canadian Tracers built before 8/01/88 and 1988 U.S. Tracers built before 9/01/88.


ACTION: To correct this, install a new design oil pressure switch that has a diaphragm made out of material that has better heat resistance. Refer to the Festiva Shop Manual, Section 33-06-6 or the Tracer Shop Manual, Section 33-05-3 for service details.
