ELECTRONIC FUEL CONTROL SYSTEM (EFCS) - REVISED SYSTEM AND DIAGNOSTICS - VEHICLES BUILT AFTER 11/01/87
LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1988 TRACER


ISSUE: The Electronic Fuel Control System (EFCS) on 1988 Tracers built after 11/01/87 has been changed to include a new "idle up" system that uses a single idle up solenoid. This single idle up solenoid replaces the air bypass valve that was used for initial cold start-up and the three (3) original idle up solenoids. These changes also affect the processor pin locations. A new breakout box adapter, Rotunda No. 007-00038, will be available in April, 1988 to assist technicians in diagnosing system concerns.

ACTION: If service is required prior to the availability of the new breakout box adapter, refer to the EFCS breakout box pin to processor pin conversion chart below, Figure 5.
