LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1988 TRACER
ISSUE: Erratic idle and/or hesitation on vehicles with less than 300 miles (480 kilometers) may be caused by an EGO sensor that is contaminated with the engine protectant spray used during assembly. The engine protectant spray may enter the EGO sensor body resulting in an incorrect sensor signal. This condition is temporary and will correct itself when the engine protectant spray burns off.
ACTION: No corrective action is required. If the condition still exists after 300 miles (480 kilometers) have been accumulated, normal diagnostics should be used.
NOTE: A service code indicating a bad EGO sensor may NOT be displayed during vehicle quick test.
