Valve Lash Adjustment
Valve lash should be adjusted to .012 inch with engine at normal operating temperature. Adjust valves to specifications every 15,000 miles, using the following procedure.
1. Start engine and allow to reach operating temperature, then stop engine and remove rocker arm covers.
2. Position No. 1 cylinder at TDC compression stroke, then adjust the following valve clearances:
a. Number 1 and 2 intake.
b. Number 1 and 3 exhaust.
3. Rotate crankshaft one full turn, positioning No. 4 cylinder at TDC compression stroke, then adjust the following valve clearances:
a. Number 3 and 4 intake.
b. Number 2 and 4 exhaust.
