Ignition Timing: Adjustments

Ignition system should be inspected every 30,000 miles. When checking ignition timing, engine should be at normal operating temperature and operating at specified curb idle speed, with all electrical accessories off. Disconnect and plug vacuum line(s) from distributor diaphragm. Disconnect black electrical connector from distributor. Connect timing light sensor lead to No. 1 spark plug lead, without piercing insulation of lead. Refer to ``Tune Up Specifications'' for specified ignition timing, firing order and timing mark identification. When adjusting ignition timing, note that distributor has two hold down bolts.
