CAMSHAFT - 1.3L - CAMSHAFT SEIZED IN CYLINDER HEAD - SERVICE TIPS

ISSUE: A camshaft that has seized in the cylinder head will require the replacement of the cylinder head and camshaft. The cylinder head bearing surfaces must NOT be repaired by sanding, filing or any other method. The cylinder head bearing surfaces are hardened aluminum and if a repair to one of these surfaces is attempted the hardness will be lost resulting in a repeat repair.


ACTION: If service is required, check the camshaft and cylinder head bearing surfaces for damage. If damage is present, replace the cylinder head and camshaft. Refer to the Festiva Shop Manual, Section 21-05 for service details.
