1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove left and right side sound deadening panels, Fig. 71.
3. Remove two screws attaching lap duct register panel and remove panel.
4. Remove heater control cable ends at three air control doors, located at blower case and at either side of heater case.
5. Reach behind instrument cluster, depress lock tab and pull speedometer cable out from instrument cluster.
6. Reach behind instrument cluster and disconnect three electrical connectors by pushing the lock tab and pulling connector from instrument cluster.
7. Remove three screws attaching brace below lap duct. Fig. 72.
8. Remove lap duct and left side demister tube.
9. Remove five screws attaching steering column lower cover and remove cover, Fig. 73.
10. Remove four steering column mount bolts and lower steering column.
11. Remove two screws attaching glove box and remove glove box.
12. Loosen nut securing hood release cable to instrument panel and move to one side.
13. Slide front seats all the way forward, then remove two screws securing rear of rear console.
14. Slide front seats all the way rearward, then remove two screws securing rear console to front console.
15. Remove shifter knob, then four screws securing front console to mounting bracket.
16. Remove console sidewalls, front console and shifter boot.
17. Remove five instrument panel mounting bolt covers, Fig. 74.
18. Remove nine instrument panel mounting bolts and two mounting nuts.
19. Lift up on instrument panel and pull out slightly.
20. Disconnect blower motor electrical connector and radio antenna at back of radio.
21. Disconnect three instrument panel harness connectors at lower left corner of instrument panel.
22. Remove instrument panel assembly.
23. Reverse procedure to install.
