EXCEPT ALL WHEEL DRIVE MODELS
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove grease cap from hub. Remove cotter pin, nut retainer, adjusting nut and flat washer from spindle, Fig. 10. Discard cotter pin.
3. Pull hub and drum assembly off spindle being careful not to drop outer bearing assembly.
4. Remove outer bearing assembly.
5. Using tool 1175-AC or equivalent, remove and discard grease seal. Remove inner bearing assembly from hub.
6. Reverse procedure to install.

MODELS W/ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove brake drum, parking brake cable from brake backing plate.
4. Remove brake line from wheel cylinder.
5. Remove outboard U-joint attaching bolts and caps. Remove outboard end of halfshaft from wheel stub shaft yoke and wire to control arm, Fig. 11.
6. Remove and discard control arm to spindle bolt, washers and nut.
7. Remove tie rod nut, bushing and washer. Discard nut.
8. Remove and discard two bolts attaching spindle to strut. Remove spindle from vehicle.
9. Mount spindle and backing plate assembly into a suitable vise.
10. Remove cotter pin and nut attaching stub shaft yoke to stub shaft. Discard cotter pin.
11. Remove spindle and backing plate assembly from vise. Remove stub shaft yoke using a suitable tool.
12. Mount spindle and backing plate assembly in a vise. Remove wheel stub shaft.
13. Remove snap ring retaining bearing.
14. Remove four bolts attaching spindle to backing plate. Remove backing plate.
15. Remove spindle from vise and mount into a suitable press. With spindle side facing upward, carefully press bearing out of spindle. Discard bearing after removal.
16. Reverse procedure to install.
