ISSUE: A "rattling" noise from the hood area when driving on rough roads may be caused by the hood prop rod. The prop rod retainer may allow the rod to come loose and rattle against the radiator support and hood assembly.
ACTION: To correct this, install a new design prop rod retainer with improved retention qualities. Refer to the following service procedure for installation instructions.
1. Open and support the hood.
2. Disconnect the hood prop rod from the retainer.
3. Remove and throw away the existing hood prop rod retainer.
4. Install a new hood prop rod retainer, (E83Z-16828-A).
