Attachment III - Technical Instructions

Attachment III
1. Inspect for a white or yellow paint daub between the two screws on the face of the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) body.

^ If there is a white or yellow paint daub on the sensor face, the vehicle does not require rework and may be released.

^ If no white or yellow paint is present, proceed to Step 2.

2. Loosen the top Throttle Position Sensor screw 1 to no more than 2 turns with a Phillips screwdriver with a 4 to 5 inch long shank. This procedure (to loosen the top screw before removing the bottom) is required to allow the bottom screw to clear the valve cover during removal. A maximum of 2 turns prevents the sensor from moving so far out of position that it can disengage from the end of the throttle shaft.

3. Remove and replace the bottom attaching screw with a new screw (Part No. N603257-S100) and tighten securely. The screwdriver must be against the top surface of the valve cover and directed at an angle for access to the screw head.

4. Remove and replace the top attaching screw with the new screw (Part No. N603257-S100) and tighten securely.
