ISSUE:
From October 1, 1992 through March 31, 1993 an Exchange Program increases the availability of Ford Remanufactured ATX transaxles for powertrain warranty, ESP, after warranty adjustments (AWA), customer paid repairs and over-the-counter sales for these vehicles.

ACTION:
Ford recommends exchange for warranty repairs if an overhaul is needed. Dealers will be required to exchange the transaxles on these vehicles for repairs performed under warranty, ESP and AWA if the estimated total cost of repairs exceeds $1100.

Dealers may order these transaxles from their facing Ford Authorized Remanufacturer (FAR). 1863 claims will include the part cost, and the customary $100 handling allowance will be paid. Part cost, core cost, and handling allowance are not eligible for 30% mark-up.

On Ford paid repairs, dealers will receive core credit from Ford by entering the core value on the claim. The facing FAR will issue core credit for assemblies related to customer paid repairs and retail sales. All cores will be picked up by the FAR.
