Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair




1. Discharge refrigerant system.
2. Drain coolant from radiator.
3. Remove ignition coil from the engine.
4. Remove fan shroud to radiator retaining nut and screw disconnect A/C discharge line retaining clip from radiator fan shroud left retaining bolt.
5. Disconnect fan motor wires and remove fan shroud.
6. Disconnect upper hose from radiator.
7. Disconnect radiator lower hose from engine water tube.
8. On vehicles equipped with automatic transaxle, disconnect and cap transmission oil cooler hoses from oil tubes on transmission.
9. On all models, remove two radiator to radiator support attaching screws and remove radiator.

10. Disconnect liquid line and compressor discharge line from condenser, Fig. 2.

11. Tilt top of condenser toward engine and remove, Fig. 4.
12. Reverse procedure to install. Use new O-rings lubricated with refrigerant oil.
13. Leak test, evacuate and charge refrigerant system. Check system for proper operation.
