LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1988 TOPAZ

ISSUE: A new integral design rocker arm cover and gasket assembly is used on a limited number of 2.3L HSC engines produced at the Chihuahua Engine Plant. This new assembly is not a serviceable item.

ACTION: If the integral rocker arm cover and gasket assembly is removed to perform a service procedure, the integral rocker arm cover and gasket should be reinstalled. The rocker arm cover attaching bolts should be torqued to 6-8 ft.lbs. (8.0-11.5 N-m). Integral rocker arm cover and gasket assemblies requiring replacement for a damaged cover or leaking mold-ingasket may be serviced by replacing the rocker arm cover, gasket and nine
(9) attaching bolts with current service parts.

NOTE: If the integral rocker arm cover and gasket assembly is replaced, return the assembly (rocker arm cover, gasket and attaching bolts) to the Warranty Parts Return Center, Plymouth, Michigan.
