Recall Update - Discontinue the Installation of Kits

EMISSIONS RECALL 91E15 - SERVICE PARTS RETURN OF OBSOLETE FUEL VAPOR PURGE AND EMISSION ASSEMBLY KITS - VEHICLES WITH CALIFORNIA 3.8L ENGINES



FORD:
1988 TAURUS

LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1988 CONTINENTAL, SABLE



ISSUE:
In August 1992, all dealers were requested to discontinue the installation of Recall 91E15 until further instructions were received. In some cases, the installation of the fuel vapor purge and emission assembly kits resulted in the recalled vehicles not passing the emission tests. The obsolete parts (F1PZ-9F944-A AND F1PZ-9F944-B) should be removed from your inventory and returned within 30 days of this TSB to:

ACTION:
Return the obsolete kits from your dealership's inventory.


1. Return the obsolete kits to Butcher Engineering using the least expensive transportation.

2. Complete a separate FPS-340 claim for each part number.

3. Indicate Reason "J" on the claims.



4. In the Remarks Section write "Returned per TSB 92-21-6", Recall 91E15.

LIMITS

^ The returns must be received within 30 days from the date of this TSB.

^ Returns are restricted to the subject parts.

^ The parts returned must have been purchased from FPSD in accordance with Policy and Procedure Bulletin 4000.

CREDIT

Credit for parts and prepaid freight costs will be issued.

NOTE:
ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING WORK IS BEING DONE TO CORRECT THE RECALL. FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE ISSUED VIA OASIS AS SOON AS ENGINEERING DATA IS AVAILABLE.
