REFUND REQUESTS BY DECEMBER 31, 1989
REASONS FOR Additional coverage is being provided for 1988-Model
THIS PROGRAM 3.0L engine equipped Taurus and Sable cars for
refrigerant leakage as a result of air conditioner compressor shaft seal damage.
VEHICLES 1988-Model 3.0L engine equipped Taurus and Sable cars
AFFECTED manufactured at the Atlanta Assembly Plant from
April 5, 1988 through the end of 1988-model production, and the Chicago Assembly Plant from May 1, 1988 through the end of 1988-model production are covered by this program.
NOT IN CARES/OASIS will not be activated for this program,
CARES/OASIS since this program is intended as additional coverage
and owners are not requested to return their cars unless the leakage condition exits.
PROGRAM Owners of affected cars will be informed that coverage
PROVISIONS for the leakage condition is available for an additional
AND LIMITATIONS 12-month (24-month total) coverage. The coverage starts
with the warranty start date of the vehicle.
REFUNDS Any owner who has paid for the repairs described in this program will be refunded the costs of parts and labor. Repairs must have been made prior to the receipt of the notification of this program. Refund requests must be made by December 31, 1989.
SERVICE Cars returned for service will have compressor shaft
ACTION seals replaced and the system recharged.
OWNER Affected owners will be notified with the letter shown
NOTIFICATION on Attachment II. NOTE: FIES is alerting all owners in
LETTER Federalized export markets and in selected
non-Federalized FIES areas where direct owner contact is not restricted.
