Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair

1982---83 EXC. ESCORT, EXP, LN7 & LYNX & 1984---87 EXC. ESCORT, EXP, LYNX, TEMPO & TOPAZ
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove wiring from routing clip.
2. Disconnect fan motor wiring connector.
3. Remove four screws securing mounting bracket and remove fan assembly from vehicle.
4. Remove fan blade retaining clip, then remove fan.
5. Remove nuts securing fan motor to mounting bracket.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Torque fan motor attaching nuts to 70---95 in. lbs., fan shroud to radiator attaching bolts, 70---95 in. lbs.
