Cylinder Balance Test

The cylinder balance test used on V8-302 (5.0L) SEFI engines, is designed to check each injector and injector circuit by de-activating them one at a time.
To enter the cylinder balance test:
1. Perform the Engine Running Self-Test.
2. After the last repeated service code is received wait approximately 10 seconds. (The test must be entered within 2 minutes of the last repeated service code.)
3. Lightly depress throttle. (A two or three degree throttle angle shaft movement is required, NOT wide open throttle.)
4. Test time is approximately 90 seconds.
The cylinder balance test is not designed to find: cracked pistons, moderately lean/rich injectors, valve problems and improper compression levels.
The cylinder balance test can be repeated (entered) as many times as necessary, by lightly depressing the throttle after the repeated service code has been displayed.
