With Electronic Automatic Temperature Control
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Discharge refrigerant from system.
3. Remove air cleaner assembly.
4. Disconnect and plug heater hoses from heater core.
5. Disconnect electrical connector from clutch cycling switch on top of accumulator/dryer.
6. Disconnect liquid line and accumulator/dryer from evaporator core tubes.
7. Remove accumulator/dryer bracket attaching nuts.
8. Position accumulator/dryer to one side and remove two evaporator retaining nuts.
9. Working in passenger compartment, remove steering column opening cover from instrument panel.
10. Remove instrument panel sound insulators from both sides.
11. Remove both right and lefthand cowl trim plates.
12. Remove ashtray receptacle, then the two screws attaching lower center of instrument panel to floor brace.
13. Remove steering column shroud, then disconnect transmission indicator cable from steering column.
14. Remove instrument panel pad.
15. Remove steering column-to-brake pedal support nuts and lay steering column to rest on front seat.
16. Remove nut retaining instrument panel to brake pedal and steering column support.
17. Remove instrument panel attaching screws, then lay panel to rest on front seat and disconnect necessary electrical connectors.
18. Disconnect blower motor and blower motor speed controller electrical connectors.

19. Disconnect temperature control sensor hose and elbow from evaporator case, Fig. 21.
20. Disconnect temperature control harness from control assembly.
21. Disconnect antenna cable from radio and from strap on evaporator case.
22. Carefully slit carpet down center of transmission tunnel to the instrument panel bracket, then fold carpet back to expose rear seat heater duct.
23. Cut top and side from rear seat heat duct, then remove top from floor duct.
24. Remove evaporator attaching screws and the evaporator.
25. Reverse procedure to install.
