Speedometer Module: Description and Operation

The electronic speedometer module receives a speed/distance signal from the transmission mounted magnetic speed sensor. The maximum speedometer reading is 85 Miles Per Hour (MPH) in the English mode or 199 Kilometers Per Hour (Km/H) in the metric mode.

When the ignition switch is turned from the OFF to the RUN position, the electronic display will prove out by momentarily lighting all display segments and then momentarily turning all display segments OFF. This prove out ensures that all display segments are functional. The odometer will display either miles or kilometers by depressing the E/M button. The RESET TRIP button zeros the trip odometer. The regular odometer displays seven digits. When 199999.9 is exceeded the display will change to 100000.0. The trip odometer displays four digits. When 999.9 is exceeded the display will change to 000.0.

NOTE: Replacement speedometer/odometer modules have been programmed to display an "S". Previously accumulated mileage is recorded on a sticker that must be placed on the door jamb.
