Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Position a suitable block of wood approximately 7 inches of length under clutch pedal to hold clutch pedal up.
3. Grasp and pull clutch cable forward, disconnecting cable from clutch release shaft lever assembly.
4. Remove clutch casing from top rib of transaxle case.
5. Remove 2 top transaxle to engine attaching bolts.
6. Remove air cleaner assembly.
7. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front stabilizer bar to control arm attaching nut and washer.
8. Remove stabilizer bar mounting brackets.
9. Remove nut and bolt attaching lower control ball joint to steering knuckle assembly.
10. Using a suitable tool, pry lower control arm away from steering knuckle.
11. Using tool D83P-4026-A or equivalent, pry left inboard CV joint assembly from transaxle. Remove inboard CV joint from transaxle by grasping the lefthand steering knuckle and swinging the knuckle and halfshaft outward from transaxle.

NOTE: If the CV joint cannot be pried from transaxle, insert tool T81P-4026-A or equivalent through right side of case and tap CV joint out.

12. Wire halfshaft assembly in level position to prevent overextending CV joint.
13. Repeat steps 10 through 12 for other CV joint.
14. Remove back-up light switch electrical connector from transaxle.
15. Remove starter motor and position aside.
16. Remove engine roll restricter.
17. Remove shift mechanism, shift indicator and bracket assembly.
18. Disconnect speedometer cable from transaxle.
19. Remove oil pan to clutch housing stiffener brace attaching bolts.
20. Position a suitable jack under transaxle assembly.
21. Remove 2 nuts securing lefthand rear No. 4 insulator to body bracket.
22. Remove bolts securing lefthand front No. 1 insulator to body bracket.
23. Lower transaxle slightly until transaxle clears rear mount.
24. Position a suitable jack under engine.
25. Remove 4 transaxle to engine attaching bolts.
26. Lower transaxle from vehicle.
27. Reverse procedure to install.
