Electronic Climate Control Module

A/C BLOWER MOTOR SPEED CONTROL

The temperature control assembly, located on the instrument panel, consists of ten push buttons, a variable blower speed knob for manual input and a liquid crystal display (LCD) for displaying ambient temperature, set temperature and diagnostic codes. Five light emitting diodes (LEDs) display manual mode overrides and two LED light bars indicate automatic function and fan control.
The set temperature can be increased or decreased in one degree increments between 65 and 85°F. There is also a 90°F setting for maximum heating and a 60°F setting for maximum cooling. Automatic blower control operation can be overridden by turning the blower knob.
On models equipped with an electronic instrument cluster, temperature setting displays can be switched between °F and °C by pressing the miles/km button on the cluster.
The control assembly performs seven specific functions. If processes data from manual inputs to the control panel, from in-vehicle, ambient, engine temperature and sunload sensors, and from the blend door actuator position sensor. With the ignition in the Run position, the control stores the last temperature, function and blower settings. It provides continuous position control of the blend door actuator. It provides discrete two-position control of the panel-defrost and outside-recirc vacuum actuators. It provides three-position control of the function actuator. It provides a continuously variable blower signal, amplified by the blower speed control module and high blower relay to control blower voltage. It provides an A/C power feed, delivered to the pressure switch by an integral relay.
