Vacuum Control Motors

MODELS W/MANUAL A/C SYSTEM


FLOOR DEFROST DOOR
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect both heater hoses at dash panel.
3. Remove nuts retaining evaporator case to dash panel.
4. Remove instrument panel pad.
5. Remove steering column bottom trim panel.
6. Remove right side mirror remote control bezel nut and bezel, if equipped.
7. Remove steering column opening cover panel.
8. Remove steering column shroud.
9. Disconnect transmission gear shift indicator.
10. Remove steering column retaining nuts and lower to seat.
11. Remove instrument panel to brake support screw.
12. Remove glove compartment door and disconnect temperature control cable at heater air conditioning assembly.
13. Disconnect vacuum multiple plug from back of heater A/C control.
14. Disconnect blower motor and resistor.
15. Remove ashtray and disconnect electrical connector.
16. Remove instrument panel to floor retaining screws. Then remove right and lefthand cowl side panels.
17. Pull carpet back and remove screws at lower flange of heater housing.
18. Disconnect wire harness retainer.
19. Raise vehicle and disconnect wire harness and push grommet through floor. Lower vehicle.
20. Disconnect speedometer cable from instrument cluster.
21. Remove screws from left side and under evaporator case.
22. Disconnect wiring harness at evaporator case.
23. Remove top instrument panel to pillar bolts.
24. Pull instrument panel rearward and lay on steering column.
25. Remove two case support to cowl bracket attaching screws.
26. Carefully pull case from dash panel until core cover screws can be removed.
27. Disconnect arm and pivot shaft assembly from motor clip.
28. Remove two motor to bracket attaching nuts and disconnect vacuum hose.
29. Remove motor.
30. Reverse procedure to install. Check operation of all instrument panel items.



PANEL DEFROST DOOR



1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove instrument panel.
3. Remove spring nut retaining panel defrost door vacuum motor arm to the door shaft.
4. Remove two nuts retaining vacuum motor to mounting bracket.
5. Remove the vacuum motor from mounting bracket, then disconnect vacuum hose.
6. Reverse procedure to install.



OUTSIDE RECIRCULATION DOOR




1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Unfasten and lower glove compartment door to provide access to recirculation duct assembly.
3. Disconnect white vacuum hose from vacuum motor.
4. Remove motor arm retainer from door crank arm.
5. Remove two vacuum motor retaining nuts and the motor.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
