Air Dryer: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove air line from dryer by pushing down on retainer and pulling air line outward.
3. Disconnect electrical connectors from dryer, if equipped.
4. Remove air compressor, if necessary or dryer-to-compressor attaching screw.
5. Remove dryer retainer clip, if equipped.
6. Remove dryer and O-ring seal.
7. Reverse procedure to install. On 1985 Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis and 1985---87 Lincoln Town Car, torque dryer-to-compressor attaching screw to 15---25 inch lbs. On 1986---87 Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis, torque dryer-to-compressor attaching screw to 15---25 inch lbs., and compressor-to-mounting bracket attaching bolts to 30---40 inch lbs.
