ISSUE: Vehicle shake or vibration on 1987 Thunderbird/Cougar vehicles, with aluminum wheels and locking lug nuts, may be caused by a wrong wheel balance weight or a wheel balance weight that is installed in the wrong location.
ACTION: Before wheel balancing or other standard diagnostics are performed, check to make sure the correct wheel balance weight is used. Also, make sure the wheel balance weight is installed (180 degrees) opposite the locking lug nut. Refer to the specification charts that follow.
