SUBJECT: Emissions Recall 90E89 - Certain 1987 Model 3.8L Engine Equipped 49-States Passenger Cars

AFFECTED VEHICLES All 1987-model Thunderbirds and Cougars having
3.8L 49-States with calibration code 7-16A-R00.

REASONS FOR RECALL The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Ford
have conducted in-use tests on some of the affected vehicles and have determined that they may be releasing levels of exhaust emissions that are unacceptable.
