Group 31 Integral Charging System (General Service): Adjustments
Belt Adjustment1. Check the belt tension with Tool 021-00019, T63L- 8620-A or equivalent. (An offset belt tension gauge, Tool 021-00028 is available if required.) If necessary, the belt should be tensioned as specified at the end of this Section.
2. If the belt is not within specification, loosen the alternator adjuster bolt and pivot bolt to a snug position. Refer to Section 27-01 Powertrain manual for drive belt adjustment methods.
3. Using the procedure described in Section 27-01 of the Powertrain manual, adjust the belt tension to specification. DO NOT apply force to the alternator rear housing.
4. Tighten the adjuster bolt to 33-54 N-m (24-40 ft. lbs.) and the pivot bolt to 55-67 N-m (40-50 ft.lbs.).
