A new wedge bulb and socket assembly is being introduced in June 1985 on the Grand Marquis and in December 1985 on the 1986 Taurus/Sable. The wedge base type bulb (No. 2458) will replace the old conventional twist-in, twist-out type bulb (No. 1157). The new "wedge" bulb can only be used with its mating socket (Figure 5) and cannot be used with past model conventional twist-in/out bayonet bulb sockets. GTE Sylvania has supplied a package of two (2) No. 2458 bulbs in the glove box of the Grand Marquis (approximately 400 Grand Marquis will be built with this bulb and socket). Normal service parts will be available for the 1986 models. See Figure 5.
