FUEL INJECTOR INSPECTION INSTRUCTIONS


Pre-Inspection Vehicle Set-Up

^ Set the parking brake
^ Wheels straight-forward
^ All accessories turned-off
^ Block the wheels
^ Check for vacuum leaks and wiggle the electrical connectors



1. Locate the fuel injector in the central fuel charging assembly. Remove the electrical connector from the top of the injector.

Injector Visual Check Procedure

^ Remove the electrical wire harness connector to the fuel injector.
^ Clean the injector connector shell if necessary.
^ Use a light or flash light on the flat side of the connector shell to see the injector date code (molded into the connector shell).
^ Go to the Injector Date Code Chart.


^ Refer to Figure 1, below. Look at the side of the injector electrical connector for the build date. (Three numbers followed by one letter). Using the following chart, interpret the injector build date 742D as per example.
3. Refer to the following chart to determine if the injector requires replacement.

^ Replace in injectors with build dates prior to 742D.

^ DO NOT replace injectors with build dates on or after 742D.
