Wastegate: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect wastegate actuator hose at turbocharger fitting.
2. Connect pressure diagnostic gauge T79P-6634A or equivalent to actuator hose.
3. Apply 15 psi to actuator and trap. If pressure drops below 2 psi after 2 minutes, replace turbocharger assembly.
4. Release pressure from actuator, then raise and support vehicle.
5. While applying 5 psi to wastegate actuator, observe actuator link and the wastegate lever. The link should rotate the lever smoothly when 5 psi is applied.
6. If lever and link do not operate smoothly, replace turbocharger assembly.
